Course description | The main aim of this short course is to provide participants with theoretical background and practical expertise in the field of groundwater treatment. On conclusion of this short course the participants should: - understand theoretical basis of basic water treatment processes of aeration and (adsorptive) filtration, - get an update on drinking water quality standards with a focus on groundwater quality - have an expertise in conventional and advanced groundwater treatment. The main subject addressed during the short course include: Water Quality and Treatment, Conventional & Advanced Groundwater Treatment, Laboratory. Courses on Iron Oxidation and Arsenic Removal. Adsorptive processes, etc. Advanced (ground) water treatment processes applied in The Netherlands will be introduced (inc. nano-filtration, ion exchange, etc). Considerable attention is given to the topic of arsenic presence in groundwater and arsenic removal techniques. A field visit to groundwater treatment plant in The Netherlands is organized. During the visit a conceptual groundwater treatment plant design is organized. |
