Course description introduce professionals involved in or affected by policy-making, law-making or negotiations on a national or international level, civil servants, directors and staff members of NGO's or consultants to the complexities of the relationship between water, environmental and economic issues; the relationship between law, politics and policy making at local, national, regional and international level. Other objectives includes • Enhancing knowledge of international water and environmental law and how it influences national decision-making on resource use; • Enhancing knowledge of regional and national water and environmental problems and how law, politics and policies are used to address these problems; • Increasing the ability of participants to analyze the interrelations between the various issues; and to develop analytical academic skills, policies strategies and negotiation techniques; • Connecting professionals from different parts of the world and different organizations to allow for exchange of ideas and insights and to learn from each other’s experiences; and • Creating a continuous learning environment where professionals can 'meet' and refresh their knowledge on the subj
Study subjects The 16 weeks of the WELP online module are divided into 5 sub-courses (units) that cover the following subjects: 1. Introduction to the Water and Environmental Law and Policy (2 units) 2. Theory & Methods in Law and Policy (2 units) 3. International Water and Environmental Governance (6 units) 4. National Water and Environmental Governance (3 units) 5. Dispute Resolution and Prevention (3 units)
Course objectives The goal of the course is to introduce the student to the complexities of the relationship between water, environmental and economic issues; the relationship between law, politics and policymaking at local, national, regional and international level.

Information about the institution IHE Delft Institute for Water Education is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world and the only institution in the UN system to confer accredited MSc degrees and promote PhDs. It offers degree programmes, short courses, online courses and tailor-made training. Since 1957 the Institute has provided graduate education to more than 15,000 water professionals from over 160 countries. More than 175 PhD candidates were promoted.
