Course description | The Master of History at Leiden University has a wide-reaching academic scope. The range of chairs in history which include most European and non-European areas, combined with the archive material available in Leiden University and in The Hague makes the study of nearly all areas of the world an option. To enable you to pursue your own interests as much as possible, the various specialisations have a thematic focus. Within these specialisations there are also possibilities to concentrate on Maritime History, Political Debate or Economic History. The programme offers you the chance to obtain a degree based on your own particular interests and ambitions. Its strong international orientation and focus on the study of European and non-European history in a global context gives the Leiden MA in History a unique character in the Netherlands. * Leiden University's History department was recently ranked 19th in the QS worldwide ranking. |

Course objectives | Our programme has the following objectives: * To enable you to acquire academic knowledge, understanding and skills, and to train you in the use of scientific methods in the field of history; * To enable you to develop the following academic and professional skills like an independent academic reasoning and conduct, the ability to analyse complex problems, and academic reporting; * To prepare you for an academic career and further education or to prepare you for a career outside the academia. |
