Course summary The PDM program will help you enhance your personal management skills and as such train you how to effectively manage complex capacity building projects to guarantee success every step of the way.
Course description Do you want to learn how to identify and manage stakeholders throughout the project cycle and how to identify, formulate (and manage) complex projects in developing countries, which actually meet the needs of beneficiaries? Do you want to be challenged by colleagues from all over the world to think about the success and fail factors of complex capacity building projects? By exchanging views with a variety of experts in the field of project identification, development and management, our PDM program provides you with insights across the entire project cycle. It helps build crucial project management skills like communication, leadership, team work and negotiation skills and helps you to think critically about some of the current themes in the debate on development projects today. Focusing on the exchange of experiences and best practices from real-life project situations, the interactive PDM program will explore various elements of the project cycle: identification, formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and evaluation.
Study subjects Phases in the Project cycle: Identification, Formulation, Planning, Implementation, Monitoring & Reporting and Evaluation - Interactive workshops on essential PM skills such as communication, leadership, team work and negotiation - Shifting viewpoints on development: critics, from Aid to Trade and Security & Rule of Law, Water, Food Security, Sexual and Reproductive Health
Course objectives Equipped with a combination of analytical, technical and managerial insights and tools for the development and management of development projects - Insight in own personal management skills in the field of leadership, effective project teams, networking, communication and negotiation skills and how to further develop these skills to successfully manage the challenges in development projects.
