Course description The education of physiotherapy is a broad education that leads to a professional both as health care worker, manager and developer of the profession. During the education you are taught in medical subjects as well as in the psycho-social area. You will be trained in both theoretical as well as in the practical field. Training is given in small groups according to case studies.
Study subjects The education teaches subjects in medical area: Anatomy, physiology, pathology, general and specific as well as specific physiotherapeutic: evaluation of the locomotor system, exercise therapy, massage en physiotechnical applications. Besides that we train in the roles of manager and developer of the profession.
Course objectives Competences are named according to the three professional roles of the physiotherapist: care giver, manager and developer of the profession. The role as caregiver concerns the primary process. The main goal are the competences submitted to this role. The roles as manager and developer are at service of the primary process.

Information about the institution Saxion University of Applied Sciences is one of the larger institutions of higher education in the Netherlands, with over 23,000 students (and still growing!). Saxion University has a rich history – its roots can be traced back to the 1875. A merger of two educational institutions, the Hogeschool Enschede and Hogeschool Ijselland, in 1998 paved the way for Saxion University in its present form.
