Course summary Automotive Technology offers a Master's degree program based on a systems approach, providing multidisciplinary knowledge. There are no comparable programs in Europe.
Course description The automotive industry is fast-moving with new technologies. The traditional car has been developed into a controlled high-tech system full of mechanics, electronics, sensors and informatics. The increase in vehicle intelligence has led to a vast demand for highly educated engineers able to think on system level, to work in a variety of disciplines and to observe the complete system rather than a collection of components. This program teaches students to observe the car as a system. It offers in-depth knowledge about essential parts of a vehicle and about vehicle-to-vehicle communication and control. The program gives an outstanding starting point for a successful career. Eighty percent of the Dutch automotive industry is located in the region of Brainport Eindhoven. There's an active cooperation between TU/e and companies located here like Philips, DAF PACCAR and TomTom. The Automotive Technology educational program includes generic core courses, elective courses and project assignments. The program is built around two specializations: Smart Mobility and Sustainable Mobility. The second year consists of an internship and a graduation project.
Study subjects The first year starts with a core program which consists of several generic core courses, a project assignment and electives. The second year consists of the internship and the graduation project which takes place under the supervision of the involved research group. The aim is to provide students with relevant experience in both scientific research and industry.
Course objectives The Master's Degree Program Automotive Technology gives graduates a sound basis for a career in the automotive industry or in a research institute such as TNO (Netherlands organization for applied scientific research), for example as an engineer/designer or project leader. The program is centered on fundamental generic engineering aspects, while it stresses the multi-disciplinary character of the field.

  3. Letter of motivation.
