Course summary In this one-year, English-taught Master’s, you will combine public administration with 21st-century skills and cross-disciplinary, technology-oriented research in a societal domain you care about.
Course description This one-year, English-taught Master’s programme allows you to develop outstanding expertise in public administration and to combine it with cross-disciplinary research in a societal domain of your choice. The programme allows you to fuse an academic grounding in public policy, governance and management with 21st-century skills and leading-edge expertise in a specific domain in which our university excels, such as healthcare, the environment, or Industry 4.0. By combining public administration expertise with insight into the impact of technology on society, this Master’s will give you a strong starting position on the job market. You will not focus only on theory, but also learn how to apply it to real-life challenges by working on existing policy issues and designing solutions for modern-day problems. We offer an informal atmosphere, a low student-teacher ratio and educational methods geared to your professional and personal growth. You will be equipped to tackle pressing political and administrative challenges and on graduating, you can choose from a wide range of careers – with national or international government bodies or in research, consultancy, healthcare or education.
Study subjects In the first semester you will study three subjects (each worth 5 ECTS credits) but also start preparing your master’s thesis. The second semester is similar in structure, comprising of three subjects and the completion of your master’s thesis. The PA master’s programme has 4 specializations: Policy and Governance, Public Safety, Regulation and Innovation, Public Management.
Course objectives The Master of Science in Public Administration (PA) focuses on improving the quality of public policymaking and service provision and highlights an informed approach to social issues in a range of areas, including public safety, education, the environment and sustainability. As a public administrator, you will be expected to understand these complex problems and contribute to the development of appropriate and effective solutions.
