Course summary Always wanted to be a technological designer? Graduates of the PDEng programme Maintenance are able to design efficient and effective maintenance processes from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Course description The PDEng Maintenance is a 2-year Post-Master programme in which you spend 50% of your time on a technological design within a company, and 50% of your time on a course programme to earn knowledge and skills in favor of creating a technological design. You will work on a real-world design, as the design project is proposed by the company you will work for. Because the design project and course programme run parallel over the 2 years, you will directly apply your newly acquired knowledge into your project a the industrial partner. Graduates of the PDEng programme Maintenance are able to design efficient and effective maintenance processes from a multidisciplinary perspective. Understanding of failure behaviour, registration and analyzing of measureable loads, and the ability of the installation and optimalisation of an advanced maintenance organisation are essential. Compared with a PhD, the PDEng is a practical oriented professional doctorate in engineering which is better suited to the direct needs of industry, whereas the the PhD focuses on scientific research. An other difference is that a PDEng takes 2 years, while a PhD takes 4 years.

Course objectives The goal of the PDEng programme in Maintenance is to educate designers who are able to design a effective and efficient maintenance process for a system. For a design to comply to an integral maintenance-aware solution technical, financial, logistics and organizational specifications need to be set and fulfilled. A major challenge in this comes from the fact that maintenance is a dynamic process, where the process should continuously be adjusted based on changes in the system and its environment
