Course description Mechanical Engineering is one of the most comprehensive programmes around. You might apply yourself to improving and optimizing existing technologies and processes, but many mechanical engineers conceive and design entirely new products. These products can range from the very large to the very small: from an ocean-going container vessel down to a 3D printer. Mechanical engineers are involved in the design of practically all products. Mechanical engineers can be found in all sectors, from healthcare to the automotive industry. The Bachelor’s programme in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente will teach you to transform fundamental knowledge into socially relevant solutions. This is why we emphasize the link between theory and practice, working on a project basis. You and your fellow students will work on practical assignments in which you apply the theories you learn in your lectures. For example, you might design an energy-efficient ice rink or a waste collection vehicle for a festival site. You and your team will tackle the entire process of devising and design, and sometimes you will even build a working prototype.
