Course summary The Research Master's programme in History offers research-based training in political and cultural history, the history of international relations, and social and economic history.
Course description The History Research Master's programme offers you research-based training in history as an academic discipline. We teach you how to perform research, and we challenge you to develop your own ideas on topics of your choice. Our History Department offers a broad range of historical expertise in four scholarly fields: political history; cultural history; history of international relations and conflict studies; and economic and social history.
Study subjects In your first year you will take three compulsory courses. You will also choose four electives from a broad range of specialised courses and research tutorials within or outside our department. The first semester of your second year will be devoted to your stay at a foreign research university or to a research internship. In the last semester, you will write your Research Master's thesis. To help prepare your thesis, you will also participate in a Thesis Lab (no credits).
