Course summary The master program One Health focuses on multidisciplinary research on the interface of public health, animal health and environmental health with a clear focus on infectious diseases.
Course description This master programme educates multidisciplinary researchers in the field of One Health. The One Health approach in research involves interdisciplinary research by collaborations between physicians, veterinarians, epidemiologists, microbiologists and ecologists. Within One Health public health threats related to animals and environment are being monitored, studied, evaluated, modeled and controlled. The program will contain theoretical courses, research projects, a writing assignment, and seminars. The program consists of a combination of different disciplines: zoonotic diseases and (re) emerging diseases, (molecular) epidemiology, ecology and wildlife, risk analysis and risk prevention. Graduates of this programme are prepared for a PhD position, but other possibilities are consultancy or policy within the commercial or public sector.
Study subjects This programme consists of mandatory courses (15EC), elective component (12 EC), a writing assignment (7.5 EC), two research projects (33 and 51 EC) and attending seminars (1.5 EC).
Course objectives To educate multidisciplinary researchers on the interface of public health, animal health and environmental health with a clear focus on infectious diseases.
