Course summary Do you want to understand the dynamics of Earth's water? And want to promote more sustainable use of our water resources? Then the Master's in Hydrology is your programme.
Course description Hydrology aims at educating students to understand the complex interactions between hydrological processes and the relation with society, and how this may change under future global change. You will be dealing with questions like: *How does the hydrological system function and how does it relate with climate, vegetation and society? *How can we ensure there is enough water available for every person? *Can we ensure water quality for agriculture, biodiversity and drinking water? *How can we minimize the impact of extreme flood events in dense urban areas?
Study subjects Our International Hydrology Master's Programme is in English and requires two years of study to obtain the 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) that you need for graduation as a Master of Science in Hydrology. A part of the programme is compulsory (96 ECTS out of a total of 120 ECTS). You can choose electives worth 24 ECTS credit points from the Master's programme in Hydrology or from other Master's programmes in hydrological, natural or environmental sciences.
Course objectives The MSc Hydrology Programme aims to achieve that the graduate should: a. Have an integrated view of the various components of the hydrological system and its relation to and impacts on the functioning of society and its economic activities. b. Have specific and fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge of the functioning of hydrological systems and hydrological processes over a broad spectrum of spatial and temporal scales, including climate change.
