Course description From molecules to brain, cells to behaviour, this interactive course provides students with comprehensive insight into various aspects of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It addresses both clinical aspects (etiology, pathology, genetics, diagnostics, and treatment) and methodologies for the study of brain diseases (cell and animal models, microscopy, physiology and electrophysiology, behaviour) with expert lecturers presenting their applied research. Students are challenged to deepen their knowledge of a neurodegenerative condition by working with peers from international backgrounds on an integrated, interdisciplinary project requiring active involvement, mechanistic thinking, and thorough reasoning. The course is organized by the Centre for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research (CNCR), a centre of expertise at the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam that conducts integrated research programmes on everything from genes to behaviour.
