Course description such as brewing and fermentation, which are still important today. In recent decades, gene modification has revolutionized the biotechnology industry, spawning countless new products and improving established processes. More and more types of fermentation are being used, and most new medicines are products of biotechnology. Modern biotechnology has become an applied area of science with a multidisciplinary approach embracing recombinant DNA technology, cellular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, as well as process design, engineering, modelling and control.
Study subjects 2 years MSC contains 1 year courses (60 ECTS) and 1 year research (24+36 ECTS). One large course at the end of the first year is compulsory for all students. A limited number of courses is compulsory for a certain specialisation. In addition, some restricted optionals have to be chosen. At least 30 ECTS contain optional courses choosen on basis of individual goals. The second (research) year contains always individual research.
Course objectives After successful completion of this MSc programme graduates are expected to: * be able to select, understand, apply and integrate the necessary skills in the basic and applied disciplines of biotechnology and to be able to enlarge knowledge en skills in their own specialization; * be able to develop and design an exploitable biotechnological process using an integrated approach; * have theoretic knowledge in basic disciplines of biotechnology; * knowledge and skills in techniques and methods of

  3. BSc in biotechnology, life sciences; (bio-)chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, environmental science, molecular science, food science, etc.
