Course description The two-year internationally-oriented and demanding Master's degree programme is student-centred, gives you the chance to develop your talent and specialisation, and trains you to become a highly versatile professional musician of the highest level. Research in and into performance practice is important, and you are aware of the social, cultural and international context in which you practise your profession. Artistic-technical and professional development are at the centre of your studies, and a key part of each graduation profile. You will also gain research skills and learn to set up and carry out practical research. In addition, you will work on your social positioning and communication skills. If you choose the graduation profile 'performing with the emphasis on education', you will also gain deepened methodological, didactic and pedagogical knowledge. After graduating from this Master's degree programme, you will be awarded a Master of Music certificate. This programme has been accredited with the qualification ‘good’ by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).
Study subjects The two-year internationally-oriented and demanding Master's degree programme centres on the student's personal and specialist development. Alongside the demanding main subject studies, the research and entrepreneurship components offer both support and a challenge, enabling students to establish themselves in the world of music with their specific individual qualities.

Information about the institution Zuyd University of Applied Sciences offers you the best of both worlds: a small-scale, intimate learning environment with all the benefits of a larger institution. You can choose from a wide range of courses and enjoy excellent facilities in modern buildings. Despite being one of the largest UAS’s in the country, all of Zuyd’s faculties are relatively small, tight-knit communities, where you find a personal and welcoming atmosphere. Lectures are interactive, with room for personal guidance as well as the freedom to develop into a skilled and creative professional. Zuyd’s project-based learning method allows you to work in small groups of no more than 15 students, supported by a tutor. This method encourages you to actively participate in group discussions and to enhance your problem solving skills.

Admission requirements
  1. Before you can take the entrance examination for the two-year full-time Master of Music in Classical Music or Jazz (120 ECs), you need to check whether you have the right prior education. You need to have at least: a Bachelor's degree in Music, or attained a comparable level by other means, tailored to the requirements of the programme; all applicants must meet the English language requirements for the Master of Music programme.
