Course description Europe is constantly faced with challenges. Just think about Brexit, migration, our aging population or climate change, to name a few. Of course, policy makers and politicians cannot solve these problems by themselves. They need to cooperate with businesses, organisations and citizens to achieve a common goal. And that is where our graduates come in. During this study programme you will look at European matters from socio-cultural, political, economic and legal perspectives and you will learn to develop taking a critical look at them. Our graduates are the communications experts that connect governments, businesses and non-profit organisations and facilitate the cooperation between them, in order to tackle these complex challenges together. Europe and the European Union are the binding elements in all courses of this study programme. Knowledge of European institutions, politics, law, public affairs and public relations are essential, but at European Studies you will also learn about cultures and international relations. You will focus on the communication lines between governments, companies and civil society.

Course objectives European Studies is a bachelor degree aimed at training you to become a specialist in European matters, a professional that can work in an increasingly international working environment, both in the private and public sector. The study programme provides you with advanced skills in intercultural and strategic communication, proficiency in at least 2 foreign languages and general management skills

Despite being one of the largest UAS’s in the country, all of Zuyd’s faculties are relatively small, tight-knit communities, where you find a personal and welcoming atmosphere. Lectures are interactive, with room for personal guidance as well as the freedom to develop into a skilled and creative professional. Zuyd’s project-based learning method allows you to work in small groups of no more than 15 students, supported by a tutor. This method encourages you to actively participate in group discussions and to enhance your problem solving skills.

  1. Foreign students need to speak at least English at an advance level. Non-EU students will have to prove they have a good command of the English language (an IELTS score of at least 6 or a computer-based TOEFL score of at least 213).
